West coast of Ireland

I love the Galway coast/Connemara area and it’s such a joy to be able to paint and visit there in my imagination even if I’m not physically there at the moment. Painting that area, even from home, feels like a quick afternoon trip! Sounds mad but that’s how it feels.

  1. Thank you Laura. You lucky thing. I hope you do go. It’s probably my favourite place. The beauty of the whole west coast takes some beating and Galway city is good fun too.

  2. Your painting looks so fresh and spontaneous, as if you were really there! It’s years since I’ve been to West Connemara (pre digital camera) but I might look out a Donegal photo to paint from. It won’t be as good as yours though.

  3. thank you for your kind comment. I haven’t been to Ireland since 2018 but longing to get back there. I find that painting scenes like this one can ‘take me back ‘ there for a couple of hours so I actually feel like I’m there. So I’m glad if that comes across. Good luck with yours. I’ll look out for it.
