Devon, flowers, oils, watercolours

Two recent paintings

Two paintings, one oil and one watercolour. The oil is of Ladram Bay looking over to Sidmouth on the Jurassic coast in East Devon with its characteristic red sandstone cliffs. The watercolour is a quick and loose sketch of some orange roses in our garden.

Watercolour demonstration

I had a great time on Thursday talking to Creative arts students as part of the Festival of Discovery at the University of Exeter about watercolour impressionists such as Edward Seago, Edward Wesson and John Hoar. Then I did a quick demo in the style of the latter. The students were fantastic in their responses. Here’s the demonstration

Two oils

I have been attending several Hester Berry demonstrations online run by the Pheonix Studio in Oxfordshire. I love her work and both these paintings are inspired by Hester’s work. I am lucky to be attending a full day’s workshop with her, here in Topsham, next week.
