Two watercolours

Enjoying a return to watercolour painting. Here are two very different studies: Pink Camellia amongst the daffodils and Landacre, River Barle, Exmoor. Both painted as freely and loosely as my ability allows.

Landacre on Exmoor

Here is a watercolour of a beautiful area of Exmoor. If you look very carefully you can just make out Landacre bridge crossing the winding river. It’s a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s a difficult thing to paint as it all revolves around colour, tone and wash.

Two Exmoor paintings

Here are two watercolours painted today of Exmoor scenes. One is of the little village of Molland and St Mary’s church on the southern foothills of Exmoor and the other, a big landscape 22 inch x 15 inch of Landacre which has a little bridge – just visible – over the river Barle, in the north of Somerset. Both were painted quickly, the Molland picture also with bamboo pen and ink.
